The Global Ministry exists to administrate and provide care to ministries outside the United States and cross-cultural international works within the U.S. Our ministry focus is primarily evangelism, discipleship training, equipping of Christian leaders, and deeds of love and mercy.

From the Missions Pastor, Bryan Wintersteen

Bryan Wintersteen serves as the Global Missions Pastor for Briarwood Presbyterian Church in Birmingham, Alabama. Since its foundation, Global Missions has been a key priority for Briarwood which has commissioned over 2,000 missionaries and given over USD $60 million to support the spread of the gospel overseas.

Briarwood currently supports more than 220 missionaries serving in 68 countries across the world. Bryan is committed to ministry partnerships where the gospel is spread through evangelism, discipleship, church planting, and church revitalization. Bryan leads Briarwood’s Global Ministry Team of over 100 lay leaders. In addition, he oversees the church plants in Puerto Rico, ministry to international university students, and heart language congregations including Hispanic, Korean, and Japanese. Prior to joining the pastoral staff at Briarwood, he served thirteen years as a missionary with Church Resource Ministries (CRM) in Australia and Washington D.C. where he served in coaching, mentoring, and equipping church planting pastors, missionaries, and ministry leaders. Bryan and his wife, Beth are the parents of four grown children, Bryan, Blake, Brock and Betsy.

Each February, Briarwood’s annual ministry conference helps minister to the international staff as well as provides vision and opportunities for members to serve. During this conference your family will have many opportunities to carry forward this legacy ministry of Briarwood when you meet with our missionaries from around the world as they testify about all that Christ is doing across the Nations.

World Orphan Outreach
World Orphan Outreach exists to “bring justice to the fatherless” (Isaiah 1:17) by reaching out to orphans around the world with the love of Christ for the glory of God. Our vision is to mobilize Briarwood members to be actively engaged in world orphan outreach by Educating, Motivating, and Equipping.

The Persecuted Church
The Briarwood Persecuted Church Prayer Team meets for corporate prayer on the second Sunday of the month from 5:00–6:00 p.m. in G-103. Members receive monthly updates regarding the persecuted church as well as periodic urgent prayer requests.
