ABOUT OUR MINISTRY
Briarwood's English-speaking Outreach is a ministry to internationals in the Greater Birmingham area. This ministry includes English-speaking permanent residents and immigrants as well as a number of (American) volunteers. We use a multi-faceted approach, offering a number of venues for outreach and discipleship.

English-Speaking Opportunities:
English as a Second Language (ESL)
Briarwood offers a weekly ESL class taught by trained volunteers who love working with internationals. Classes are free, and textbooks cost only $20. These classes and activities are a great opportunity to practice English in a relaxed environment. Classes may contain Christian content.

Friendship Partners Program
The Friendship Partner program is an excellent opportunity for cultural exchange and friendship. Briarwood members are recruited to befriend international university students and scholars for a 9-month period, but may continue their friendship as long as both parties would like.
