The Briarwood’s Student Ministries exist to equip students to worship God, to reach their schools, to reach Birmingham, to reach the world for Christ—all for God’s glory.
RAIDERS is our Jr. High ministry for 7th and 8th graders.
BYG (Briarwood Youth Group) is our Sr. High ministry for 9th-12th graders.

Jay Shaw, Family Pastor
After graduating from Auburn University, Jay went on to receive a Master of Divinity from Birmingham Theological Seminary. He began working at Briarwood in June of 2000 and has been faithfully serving ever since. He has been in his current role as Family Pastor since 2022, where he loves partnering with parents in the raising of their covenant children so that they may disciple the next generation for Christ! He is married to Allison, and the Lord has blessed them with two daughters, Elle and Caroline.

Sunday School
Church Campus | 9:30–10:30 a.m.
BYG meets in room C-200, which is on the 2nd floor above the Children’s Auditorium. RAIDERS meets in room E-313, which is on the third floor in the school wing.

Sunday Night Youth Choir
Meets at The Barn | 4:30–5:30 pm | January 18 – April 26
All 7th–12th grade young people are invited to our Youth Choir. Can’t make it this week? That’s okay! Come when you can. Questions? Please contact Pastor Haines at jhaines@briarwood.org or call or text at 205-612-5199.

Sunday Night D-Groups
Meets at The Barn | 6:00–7:30 pm | January 18 – April 26
It is our desire for every single student to be in a small group. We believe these groups are a crucial part of each student’s growth in the Lord! Students that were in a group last year still need to register! D-Groups fill up quickly, so register ASAP to get in your desired group. If we don’t receive your registration, your student will not be placed in a group.

We have the opportunity to gather students together every Wednesday Night for a time of fellowship, singing, and teaching. This time is so important for students because it serves as a spiritually refreshing night during a school week that often brings its own set of stresses and challenges.
