Scene 11 - The Cross and Crucifixion

Sometime later fearing Jesus’ influence with the people. The chief priest and scribes staged a mock trial and condemned Him to death for blasphemy. Under Roman occupation they had to depend on their captors to carry out the sentence. So, they took Jesus and He went out bearing His own cross to the site called “The Place of the Skull”, which in Aramaic is called Golgotha. There, they crucified Him. But why did Jesus have to die? The reality is that when God sent His only son it was His necessary plan that Jesus come to die. He accepted the punishment for our sin to restore our lost relationship with God and the cross was the fulfillment of the purpose of His coming.
