Briarwood’s Student Ministries
The Briarwood’s Student Ministries exist to equip students to worship God, to reach their schools, to reach Birmingham, to reach the world for Christ—all for God’s glory.
RAIDERS is our Jr. High ministry for 7th and 8th graders.
BYG (Briarwood Youth Group) is our Sr. High ministry for 9th-12th graders.

Jay Shaw, Family Pastor
After graduating from Auburn University, Jay went on to receive a Master of Divinity from Birmingham Theological Seminary. He began working at Briarwood in June of 2000 and has been faithfully serving ever since. He has been in his current role as Family Pastor since 2022, where he loves partnering with parents in the raising of their covenant children so that they may disciple the next generation for Christ! He is married to Allison, and the Lord has blessed them with two daughters, Elle and Caroline.

ABOUT THE YOUTH MINISTRY
Sunday School
Church Campus | 9:30–10:30 a.m.
BYG meets in room C-200, which is on the 2nd floor above the Children’s Auditorium. RAIDERS meets in room E-313, which is on the third floor in the school wing.

Sunday Night D-groups
BYG 6:00–7:30 p.m. | Raiders 6:00–7:15 p.m. | September – April
D-groups are our small group Bibles studies where students come together to study God’s word with one another. It is our desire for every single student to be in a small group. We believe these groups are a crucial part of each student’s growth in the Lord! These are led by staff and adult volunteers.

Dinner at the Barn starting at 5:30 p.m. (optional)
Wednesday Night at the Barn are a time for our students to enjoy community, Worship and hearing God’s word. This time is important for students because it gives students a night during the school week to be refreshed spiritually and equipped to be lights for Christ.
*Dinner at the Barn: We offer dinner each Wednesday from 5:30-6:30pm for $5. Your student is welcome to come early each Wednesday to eat dinner with other students before the meetings start.
