PASTORAL CARE MINISTRY

"Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood." Acts 20:28

ABOUT OUR MINISTRY

The Pastoral Care is a ministry equipped to care for all our congregation. We provide care for each other as pastors. We care for our young and our elderly, for families and individuals at various stages of life, for longtime members as well as those who are new to the church. We seek to serve humbly and sacrificially, knowing many in our congregation are facing challenges which give us the opportunity to “bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ” (Gal. 6:2).

Jim Alexander, Pastoral Care Pastor

With a Master of Divinity from New Geneva Theological Seminary, Jim Joined Briarwood’s pastoral staff in 2017. His past experience as a lead pastor, worship leader, and teacher has helped him deepen relationships across a broad spectrum of members since coming to our church. As our Pastoral Care Pastor, he loves encouraging fellow pastors and investing in people’s lives by helping families face health crises, the effects of aging, the demands of caregiving, and the challenges of grief from a biblical perspective. Jim has been married to Pam since 1978. They have two married daughters, six incredible grandchildren, three grand-dogs, and one grand-cat!

Pastoral Care Ministries

GriefShare
When a family member or friend passes away, you may feel like your grief is overwhelming and believe no one really understands the deep hurt you feel. But there is hope. This class meets in the spring and fall as a MidWeek class.
Lay Pastors
Over 30 spiritually mature men voluntarily assist our Pastoral Care Ministry by encouraging, praying with, and providing spiritual support to church members facing particular challenges.
Grace Ladies
Grace Ladies is a group of women who care for the widows in our church. They host two main fellowship banquets every year called “Lydia Luncheons,” where women gather to fellowship and encourage one another in Christ. These luncheons are hosted every spring and fall, so please check our calendar to find when the next Lydia Luncheon will be. We would love for you to join us!
