NATIONAL MINISTRY

BRIARWOOD PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

“…be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8
Briarwood National Ministry
Briarwood’s National Ministry seeks to be obedient to the command of Jesus in Acts 1:8 to “…be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” For the National Ministries Team, the United States is our Samaria. The Team prayerfully seeks to prioritize evangelism, discipleship, leadership development and deployment, and deeds of love, mercy, and justice. We are currently able to financially partner with 105 missionaries serving with 38 different boards.

National Ministries Pastor, Rev. Rob Looper

Rob attended both Clemson University and the University of South Carolina, graduating in 1988.  It was at USC, through Reformed University Fellowship, that he came to know the Lord and discerned God’s call to pastoral ministry. Rob attended Covenant Theological Seminary and met and later married fellow CTS student Lisa Duck. In 1993, he received his Master of Divinity degree and was ordained in Missouri Presbytery and ministered at Twin Oaks Presbyterian church until 1998.  After serving as Senior Pastor at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Tuscaloosa, Rob pastored the historic McIlwain Memorial Presbyterian Church in Pensacola, FL for 20 years. It was at McIlwain that Rob became involved with Dr. Harry Reeder’s ministry of church vitality, Embers to a Flame, now Lampstand. In 2022, the Lord called Rob to serve as National Missions and Church Revitalization Pastor at Briarwood, where he oversees support for over 120 USA-based missionaries and leads Lampstand, encouraging pastors and churches to be rooted in the means of grace. Rob and Lisa have three adult children, Hannah, Bennett, and Laura.

NATIONAL MINISTRIES:

Local & National Ministries Conferences
Each October, Briarwood’s annual Nation Ministries conference helps minister to our national staff as well as provides vision and opportunities for members to serve. During this conference your family will have many opportunities to carry forward this legacy ministry of Briarwood when you meet with our missionaries from around the country as they testify about all that Christ is doing across the nation.
National Ministry Team
The National Ministry Team meets the third Monday evening of most months to consider applications for support and to pray for our missionaries on the field in the U.S. If you would like to find out more about joining the National Ministry Team, contact the Missions Office.

Signing for the Deaf & Hard-of-Hearing:
Briarwood reaches out to the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community each Sunday in our 8:00 a.m. Sunday worship service. This service is “signed” each and every Sunday morning, allowing the Deaf and hard-of-hearing to enjoy worship with the entire congregation while meeting new friends in a loving atmosphere. In addition, Briarwood offers signing classes on Wednesday nights at 6:30 p.m. during MidWeek seasons.
