Spring Worship Concert
HOPE IN CHRIST!
Presenting: The Coronation Mass of W.A. Mozart
The annual Spring Worship Concert is Sunday, May 4 at 6:00 p.m. in the sanctuary, featuring the Briarwood Sanctuary Choir and Orchestra presenting the Mozart “Coronation Mass” in English along with power anthems and orchestral favorites. The theme is, “Hope in Christ!” following our theme Scripture, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to His great mercy, He has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” (1 Peter 1:3).
Invite Your Friends
I told the Session that the Gospel Message of Jesus Christ and all His love and all His Hope will so permeate this concert that they’ll want to get saved all over again! Do you have loved ones who love music but are not Christians, are struggling with feeling hopeless. or are questioning God/life? This is the place to bring them! I am praying that the love of the Father will so permeate the sanctuary through the Power of His Holy Spirit, that Jesus Christ will be irresistible to all who come.

Why Mozart?
The “Coronation Mass” is a beautiful work, the text of which comes directly from the Scriptures and the Apostle’s Creed. But I was unwilling to do any music in the church that was composed by a man who was famous for his wicked lifestyle. Nonetheless, I sensed that the Holy Spirit wanted me to pursue research on Mozart. I prayed, “Father, I would need some kind of proof that Mozart became a Christian before I could, in my conscience, present this work at Briarwood.”
Never Too Late
Like all trained musicians, I took many college and graduate courses in music history and musicology. I thought I knew Mozart’s life well. But as I prayed, to my amazement, I came upon two letters, one from Mozart’s wife and one from his sister. They both said that on his deathbed, Mozart asked the Lord Jesus to forgive him of his sin. He trusted in Jesus Christ right then and there before he took his last breath. As I read this, right then and there, I wept in gratitude to the Lord because it is never too late for the cleansing blood of Jesus when a sinner cries out to Him. It is never too late for Hope in Christ! One way or another, The Father always gets His kids!
