FAITH PROMISE GIVING
As the Global Ministries Conference is coming to a close, we urge every member to prayerfully seek the Lord’s guidance regarding the amount that He would have you give to Faith Promise—our annual missions offering that goes over and above the Lord’s tithe and your regular offerings.
It is an honor to be able to encourage our ministry partners all around the world through our giving and to worship the Lord through this act of obedience. We make this promise to give a donation in faith that the Lord will provide whatever he leads us to give. With all wisdom and discernment, we want to give with confidence that God will provide what is needed to keep these ministry partners on the field.
Whether you have faithfully given to Faith Promise for decades or this is your first time hearing of it, it’s important to remember why we give:
We give to honor the Lord.
The Bible teaches us to obey the Lord in the giving of His tithe and to honor Him in the giving of our offering. Faith Promise is a type of offering whereby we can give to support world missions—Systematically, Sacrificially, and Supernaturally. As with the Lord’s tithe, we can give systematically by prioritizing an amount each month that we give after the tithe. We can give sacrificially by choosing to deny ourselves of something so that we may give support to missions. We can give supernaturally when our Lord provides extra resources that are beyond our understanding.
We give to encourage fellow believers.
God has allowed Briarwood to send out missionaries and support them financially and prayerfully since 1965. By Faith, we anticipate prayerfully what He will give to us. By a Promise, we consecrate those funds when they arrive as offerings to the Lord to be given when He entrusts them to us. Sometimes, the Lord gives more resources to us so we can fulfill these commitments. At other times, He stretches our resources like the “fishes and loaves” and the feeding of the 5,000. No matter how He does it, it always strengthens and encourages His people when He blesses us and proves Himself faithful.
We give as an act of Worship.
As the Lord provides resources to us, in the act of worship we give them back to Him, and in seeing the hand of the Lord we are motivated to praise Him even more. Then, to discern what the Lord wants to do through us, and to discern where He wants us to place these resources, we have to call upon Him in prayer. “Lead us, O Lord, and guide us to ever increasing faithfulness with what you have entrusted to us for the praise of Your Holy Name.”
During the GMC, every member will have an opportunity to make a Faith Promise commitment. Faith Promise cards will be mailed to every household, and you have four ways to make your Faith Promise pledge:
1. Bring your completed Faith Promise card forward during Morning Worship.
2. Send your completed Faith Promise card by mail to Briarwood.
3. Email faithpromise@briarwood.org with your commitment.
4. Fill out your pledge on our website: briarwood.org/faithpromise.
