EVERY MEMBER COMMITMENT
A Passion for Stewardship
What do you have a passion for? What gives you a deep sense of excitement? Some might think of a sport, an artistic venture, an organization, or activities with friends. You probably don’t need reminders or encouragement to do these things. They do not feel like chores because you absolutely love doing them.
Christian Stewardship ought to be this way. A deep love for Jesus and His mighty works should generate a fire in our hearts that overflows in offering Him the best of our time, talents, and treasures. For some, stewardship is a passion. Yet, for others, it is a chore. Why is this? Unfortunately, our Enemy works through distraction, isolation, and highlighting our inadequacies to dull godly pursuits. I suspect this is why the author of Hebrews wrote in 10:24, “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works.” We are first called to stir up love. Begin with a sincere affection for God, and good works will follow. But we also need to stir up one another to effective deeds of grace. Together, we combat the schemes of the Devil by keeping our passion for Christ burning in our hearts while overflowing in good deeds.
To state the obvious, Briarwood is a large church, or as Pastor Reeder used to describe it, “a small town”. Towns have numerous events and activities occurring all the time – so many, in fact, that you might not even know all that’s happening. To align with Hebrews 10:24 and stir up each other to good works, the Briarwood Diaconate would love to gather a list of all the events and ministries where our members are currently using their time, talents, and treasures.
The Briarwood Diaconate has prayerfully put together this survey (link) to help identify where you’re serving. Would you please take two minutes right now to fill out this survey?
Thank you!
